Rana Munns

Rana Munns is recognised internationally for her insights into the fundamental principles of crop adaptation to environmental stresses such as drought and soil salinity, and for applications of these insights. She discovered important genes for sodium exclusion and led a research team that resulted in breeding lines of durum wheat that yielded 25% more grain on saline soils in farmers' fields. She is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, and a Professor at the University of Western Australia. She is also Honorary Fellow at CSIRO Agriculture & Food in Canberra.
